KPWE scholarship fundraiser to recognize Becky Medved, graduating scholars
The Karen Possehl Women’s Endowment (KPWE) scholarship is pleased to announce this year’s annual KPWE Unstoppable Women’s Event will take place from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7 in Berger Hall. Individual and group tickets can be purchased here.
This year’s KPWE fundraiser and celebration will recognize the graduating KPWE scholars and honor Becky Medved as the 2024 Unstoppable Woman.
“UCCS is honored to recognize Becky Medved as the 2024 KPWE Unstoppable Woman,” said Jennifer Sobanet, Chancellor of UCCS. “Becky is an active member of the Colorado Springs community, an alumna of UCCS, and she truly has a generous heart. She devotes her time and talents to various community boards that enrich local causes and initiatives, and we are excited to celebrate her as this year’s Unstoppable Woman.”
Guests at the Unstoppable Women’s Event can expect to learn more about the scholarship and the KPWE graduating scholars and will be encouraged to make a gift to the scholarship program.
“The KPWE scholarship program continues to be a scholarship that plays an essential part in empowering women at UCCS,” said Lee Ingalls Noble, chair of the KPWE advisory board. “And we are excited to host the 2024 Unstoppable Women’s event and hope to see the incredible KPWE community attending this year’s event to recognize the graduating KPWE scholars and honor Becky Medved as the 2024 Unstoppable Woman.”
KPWE’s mission is to support nontraditional UCCS students who are starting or returning to college after having overcome significant personal adversity by providing financial assistance and mentor support. The scholarship, a $6,000 award, also provides career-focused workshops, giving students the chance to learn more outside of the classroom. Thanks to community support, the program endowed in 1998 by Karen and Jim Possehl continues to positively impact scholars’ lives.
